Events: Tunis Pottery Festival
  Fayoum Governorate's Tunis village hosts Tunis Village Pottery and Handicrafts Festival every year in November, to showcase arts and handicrafts that have made the village a beloved local gem. AlexBank sponsors the festival as part of the Bank's Ebdaa Min Masr initiative (Creativity from Egypt) which connects, sponsors and helps over a 1,000 Egyptian handicraft artists to promote their artwork in and outside Egypt. The village, known particularly for its handmade glazed pottery, has long been a hub of art and culture icons as well as a winter destination for tourists looking to enjoy a unique melange of culture and nature an easy drive from chaotic Cairo. The festival was created by the late Egyptian potter Ahmed Abu Zeid in 2011, and has drawn more visitors every year.

Events: Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival in its second session in Fayoum Governorate
  the activities of the Second Festival of Medicinal and Tender Plants was launched, organized and sponsored by the German International Agency “GIZ” Egypt, in cooperation with the Fayoum Province, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Authority of Cases, and in coordination with a number of partner representatives, over the course of the 21st and 22nd of this September, at the Helnan Auberge Fayoum Hotel, on the banks of Lake Qarun, strengthening the capabilities of small farmers, empowering their livelihoods, raising their awareness of clean agricultural practices, and highlighting the difficulties facing those working in the medicinal and aromatic plants sector and ways to overcome them. Events: Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts
  Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, opened the activities of the Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts, in its first session, which continues until the 30th of this month of November, with the participation of 16 Arab and foreign countries, as the first film festival on the territory of Fayoum Governorate, which aims to develop the cultural environment and the status of the governorate. On the map of cinematic cultural production that is concerned with the environment and contemporary arts. It displays 55 films representing 15 countries on the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, competing for the festival’s prizes.

The administration of the First Fayoum Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts received 150 films from various countries around the world, and 55 films were selected to be shown during the festival’s activities,” noting that the selected films were divided into 8 feature films, 27 short films, and 20 films for students.   Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, the Fayoum Governorate celebrated this morning, Sunday, the phenomenon of the sun's alignment with the Holy of Holies at Qasr Qarun Temple. This event occurs on the morning of December 21st each year. A committee from the Fayoum Governorate Tourism Department, in cooperation with the governorate's Antiquities Authority, observed and documented the phenomenon. The event was attended by Mr. Ashraf Sobhi, Director General of Fayoum Antiquities; Dr. Moataz Ahmed Abdel-Fattah, Director General of Tourism in the governorate; Mr. Salem Fatih, Head of the Local Unit of Yusuf Al-Siddiq City and Center; and representatives from the Directorates of Youth and Sports and Education. The phenomenon of the sun's alignment with Qasr Qarun Temple is a unique architectural and astronomical event. The sun aligns with the temple's Holy of Holies at the beginning of winter, marking the start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Qasr Qarun Temple is located on the southwestern side of Lake Qarun and dates back to the Greco-Roman period. Since the discovery of the phenomenon of the sun’s alignment with the Qasr Qarun temple, the governorate has been paying close attention to it, as it is a unique phenomenon that contributes to revitalizing tourism and introducing the governorate’s rich tourism, archaeological, cultural and environmental potential.

This took place in the presence of Dr. Hani El Shaer, Head of the West Asia Office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); Major General Khaled Abbas, Head of the Nature Protection Sector; Dr. Mohamed Youssef, Head of the Central Administration for Nature Reserves; Ms. Natalia Boulad, Project Manager for the Effective Management of Qarun and Wadi El Rayan Reserves; Dr. Shaimaa Taha, Director General of the Technical Office of the Nature Protection Sector at the Ministry of Environment; Eng. He emphasized that the center represents a valuable addition to supporting the local community, strengthening the system for protecting natural reserves, promoting a participatory approach, and building institutional and administrative capacities, all of which contribute to preserving natural resources and endangered species. Al-Touni emphasized the importance of integrating and coordinating the efforts of all partner entities in cooperation with the governorate and the Ministry of Environment. He stressed the need to leverage the principles and foundations established and implemented during the project's five-year execution to ensure the effective management of the Qarun and Rayan protected areas. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing the acquired expertise and project outcomes to guarantee the sustainability and effective management of various ongoing projects. This, he explained, contributes to addressing diverse challenges, achieving environmental sustainability, and providing genuine job opportunities for the local community. He further noted the importance of supporting and developing ecotourism and rural tourism in Fayoum, strengthening the role of the local community in achieving sustainable tourism quality, and focusing on training programs for protected area staff and the nature conservation sector to enhance their environmental skills. He directed the preparation of directional signs to facilitate access to the protected areas and the maintenance and improvement of the road leading to the community environmental center. For her part, Ms. Natalia Boulad, Director of the Effective Management of Qarun and Al-Rayan Reserves Project, reviewed the project's implementation phases, objectives, and most prominent achievements, as well as the role of local and scientific advisory committees in supporting the participatory approach and the local community's involvement in developing and managing nature reserves. She also discussed the development of an environmental awareness and education plan, explaining that work at the center began in 2019 and faced a number of challenges, which were overcome thanks to the combined efforts of national partners and supporters.
