the activities of the Second Festival of Medicinal and Tender Plants was launched, organized and sponsored by the German International Agency “GIZ” Egypt, in cooperation with the Fayoum Province, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Authority of Cases, and in coordination with a number of partner representatives, over the course of the 21st and 22nd of this September, at the Helnan Auberge Fayoum Hotel, on the banks of Lake Qarun, strengthening the capabilities of small farmers, empowering their livelihoods, raising their awareness of clean agricultural practices, and highlighting the difficulties facing those working in the medicinal and aromatic plants sector and ways to overcome them.

In his speech, the Governor of Fayoum expressed his welcome to all the guests of the governorate, and all the participants in the Second Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, appreciating the role of the German Agency in organizing this festival. He also thanked all the bodies, institutions, institutes, research centers and all participants in the festival, hoping that it would produce beneficial results and recommendations. It is beneficial to all those working in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants.
On the sidelines of the activities of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival, the governors of Fayoum and New Valley, and the guests of the festival, opened and inspected the exhibition of medicinal and aromatic plants and the handicrafts bazaars area. The Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival aims to highlight the challenges facing this sector, and enhance competitive advantage in Egypt, by promoting safe organic and semi-organic products, as well as strengthening the capabilities of small farmers, improving their livelihoods, increasing their incomes, educating them about clean agricultural practices, and enhancing women’s economic participation. During the various production processes, starting from agriculture to collection, manufacturing and export, strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation between producers, manufacturers, marketers, exporters and users of medicinal and aromatic plants, adding value to their products, identifying new innovations and technology and providing innovative solutions for agricultural efficiency, productivity, sustainability and product diversity and extracts of medicinal and aromatic plants

Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts

Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, and Dr. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of the University, witnessed the opening of the activities of the Egyptian and Arab university students’ films and short films competition, which are shown in the Central Library Hall at Fayoum University, as part of the activities of the First Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts, which is held in the period From the 25th to the 30th of this November, with the participation of 16 Arab and foreign countries.
The administration of the First Fayoum Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts received 150 films from various countries around the world, and 55 films were selected to be shown during the festival’s activities,” noting that the selected films were divided into 8 feature films, 27 short films, and 20 films for students.
She added that the films participating in the festival are from 15 countries, along with Egypt, representing four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, which reflects the cultural and artistic diversity that characterizes the event. She praised the active and constructive role of the Governor of Fayoum and the University President for their support and sponsorship of the festival’s activities.

Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, inaugurated the second edition of the Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental and Contemporary Arts Films, held under the auspices of the Ministries of Culture and Environment from November 25th to 30th. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Touny, Deputy Governor of Fayoum; Mr. Bilal Habash, Deputy Governor of Beni Suef; Mr. Hani Lashin, President of the Festival; Mr. Sayed Abdel-Khaleq, Festival Director; Mr. Ahmed Magdy, Member of the Board of Trustees and Advisor to the Festival; Dr. Samir Shaheen, Vice President of the Festival; and a number of artists and filmmakers from Egypt and the Arab world. She affirmed that sustainable development is the only way to achieve a balance between the needs of the present and the rights of future generations.
